THE MONTSERRAT GUARDIANS

Iberian ibex (Capra pyrenaica hispanica) from the Montserrat mountain. In 1995, specimens brought from the Belchite and Tortosa mountains were reintroduced to this natural park in the province of Barcelona.

Currently, the Montserrat mountain natural park has a population of more than 200 specimens. Besides, thanks to the recovery efforts of the Iberian ibex in the Iberian Peninsula, it is currently in the category of “least concern” according to the IUCN.
